It is a dream come true for many people who manage to travel to Maui Island for a vacation and the last thing they need to worry about is transport. There are various ways to get around the island once you reach Maui Airport. The mode of transport will of course depend on your budgeted amount for the vacation.
Car Rentals
If you are looking to hire a car there are several car hire services available upon reaching the Maui Airport terminal. The best way to get a good bargain when renting a car is to rent the car over a longer duration since the prices can be negotiated. For convenience there are plenty of services to choose from including Hertz, Budget, Avis, Alamo and Thrifty.
The peak season on Maui Island runs from Dec-March and it’s therefore advisable to book the car in advance during this period. The prices during this period are also high but during the period of April to June they become very cheap.
Buses
Buses are the only public transport available in Maui Island. The main advantage of these buses is that they are very cheap compared to renting a car or using taxis. They charge as little as $1 per ride. The only disadvantage is that they limit the areas you can go to since they are meant for public transport.
Taxis
There are very nice taxi services available at Maui Airport. This is a very comfortable and easy way of travelling to and from the airport to the hotel. The advantage of Maui Airport taxis is that the services are available 24 hours a day, compared to the public transport which only operates during day time.
Shuttles
A few tour companies offer shuttle services using minibuses and buses from the airport to your hotel. To access the services of these private shuttles you need to check online beforehand so as to book in advance
